Bobby Taylor cigar box guitars, or Banjbos as they are referred to in many circles, are hand crafted works of art created in the heart of Texas.

Since February 2010, Bobby Bergland and Taylor Green have been churning out unique, highly eye-catching and very different sounding folk instruments in Austin. 

The roots of this cigar box banjo or myriad variations of it go back a hundred years or more.

As poor immigrants, sharecroppers, and other isolated folks who could not afford to buy a traditional guitar, but still longed to play the old songs they loved were left to their own devices, ingenuity revealed itself and the cigar box guitar was born.

Many of the early models were very rudimentary, and often had but one string and a broomstick as a neck, but believe you me; they could be played with virtuosity.

The instruments that Bobby Taylor are currently producing are fully customizable.  Most come with a hand wound BT pickup and are as different from one another as snowflakes.

The sound can be raw, like the delta blues or mystical like a sitar at times—it really depends on the player and the specific instrument.
